It works with two kinds of clients: owners and investors of companies that already operate, and founders building something new. When should a company bring in an outside turnaround advisor instead of fixing things internally?

When the numbers have stopped responding to the usual fixes. Typical triggers: margins keep narrowing while revenue holds, cash is tight despite a full order book, a unit or product line loses money and nobody can say exactly why, or the management team disagrees on the diagnosis. An outside advisor is most useful precisely when the internal team is too close to the problem.

What is the difference between strategy consulting and hands-on turnaround work?

Strategy consulting usually ends with a recommendation. Turnaround work ends with a changed P&L. Alon Hershkovitz has run P&Ls rather than only advised on them, and every engagement is built around the company's actual numbers instead of a generic framework.

How long does an engagement take?

It depends on how deep the problem runs. The process covers diagnosis, building a work plan, and training the managers and the supporting systems - usually a few months. From there it can continue at decreasing levels of involvement, until the company reaches stability, growth and its targets.

What does an engagement cost?

Pricing is set per engagement, according to the level of commitment it requires. The usual structure is a fixed fee agreed at the start of the project, plus a success-based component, followed by a retainer that covers ongoing support.

Clients range from early-stage founders to business owners running dozens of employees and millions of dollars in revenue. Each engagement is built as a package tailored to that client's needs, not an off-the-shelf product.

Do you work inside the company, or only advise from outside?

The work is external advisory. We do not take part in the company's day-to-day management. Where ongoing involvement is needed, joining the board of directors is an option.

Yes. More than 20 years of work across four continents - Israel, the United States, Europe, Africa and Asia. Past engagements include a railway concession in Africa with 1,850 employees and cross-border manufacturing moves.

Yes. Cross-border market entry is a core service: a competitiveness review, identifying where the real opportunity is, and building the operating and cost structure to support it. Past work includes moving production to China and reviving a discontinued product line for the Indian market.

Yes. Six M&A deals over the past 20 years, on both sides - acquiring competitors for synergy, and preparing companies for sale. One engagement raised service revenue substantially by acquiring and merging high-synergy competitors.

Yes. Fundraising and investor readiness is one of the services for founders: building the case, preparing for investor conversations, and getting the numbers into a form investors can evaluate. Alon Hershkovitz has founded seven companies, with three exits.
